OUR DEFINITION FOR INTEGRATION

Our model of integration relates to our vision for teaching and learning. It is holistic in nature and develops deep understandings about ourselves, each other and the world we live in. Embedded in this model are the Key Competencies/Habits of Mind and higher order thinking. It develops higher order thinking, attitudes and values along with opportunities to develop the key competencies and take action in authentic contexts.

Our integration model is relevant to the students, as we seek their voice and respond to their needs. It promotes connectedness in learning, transfer and application of learning in a range of authentic contexts. Our model is personalised to empower learners to develop their own lines of inquiry, question what they are learning and to take action for the common good.

Big Ideas impinge on the lives of young people and are directly related to the world in which they are growing up. They are related to society and to the future of the planet. Dufour (1990)  Big Ideas are relevant 'real life' concepts that provide contexts and audiences for students to develop deep understandings, critical thinking skills and problem solving strategies now and for the future
